Walking dogs, along with a monument to Lenin and Catherine and the Cossacks is one of the main attractions of Krasnodar.
Sculptural composition of the two dogs in love at the corner of Red street and Mira street in Krasnodar was presented to the city on its 215-th birthday. Inauguration of the monument took place on September 30, 2007.
The Author of this project is a sculptor Valery Pchyolin. According to his plan, two dogs of different sexes symbolize a loving couple - he and she - met at the first meeting under the building with the clock at the corner and went for a walk, holding hands.
The sculpture also recalls the work of the poet Vladimir Mayakovski, who called Krasnodar in one of his poems “dog’s capital”.
A Couple is dressed in the style of 20s. A stout bulldog pacing in his coat, and his lady, in old-fashioned clothes and with an umbrella in her paw are standing here. The urban legend states that the dogs can fulfil your wishes; just rub their noses or paws. Moreover, near the monument you can see newly married couples taking pictures. It’s a new tradition.
