I live in Orenburg. It is not very large town, but it is very beautiful.
The main attraction of our town is the bridge connecting Europe and Asia. It was built in the middle of the twentieth century. It also connects the center of the city with the industrial area.
Another attraction is the Regional Museum. It’s one of the oldest in Russia, it was founded in 1831 by the military governor of the land earl P.P. Sukhtelem and is a cultural scientific center now. Now museum has about 90 thousand items. Among the rarities there is the true death mask from the face of A. Pushkin and Pugachev’s army gun, ladies’ table of the Imperial Palace in the early XIX.
Another attraction is the St. Nicholas Cathedral. It was built in 1883 in the Cossack Forshtadte at the expense of the parishioners, the Cossacks, consecrated in 1886.
In 1935, the temple was closed and was used for residence, and during World War II Leningrad’s archive was kept here. The church was again transferred to the diocese in 1945 - have become dilapidated, no icons, no iconostases and without thrones. Soon the church became a cathedral.
In Nicholas Cathedral Orenburg kept holy - Tabynskaya icon of the Mother of God. I love my town. Welcome to Orenburg!
