Do you know anything about one of the longest cities in the world? Have you ever seen the beauty of Volga-landscapes stretching for many kilometers? Do you want to feel the power of more than thousand industrial enterprises? And all it about my native city Volgograd! It was founded as a fortress of Tsaritsyn in 1589. But every single person in Russia knows the second name of my city – Stalingrad. In 1942, the city became the site of one of the pivotal battles of the World War II. The Battle of Stalingrad marked a major turning point in the war and a landmark in military history.
Now Volgograd is a growing industrial and cultural city in the Russian Federation. Its manufactures include steel and aluminum, engineering products, timber goods, building materials, and foodstuffs. I really want you to meet my city because there are actually a lot of things to see.
Visit Volgograd to see the Volga-Don Canal, opened in 1952 to link the two great rivers of Southern Russia.
Remember some pages from the history regarding a memorial complex commemorating the Battle of Stalingrad, dominated by the sculpture of Mother Russia on the Mamaev Hill.
Have a great time visiting theatres, cinemas and exhibitions and experience exciting sports events at a stadium or sports center.
Calm down and forget about your problems sitting next to the river or taking pleasure in an active fishing.
Enjoy the beauty of my favourite city and the hospitality of its residents!
