District Tekstilshiki is situated in the south-east of Moscow. Though it isn’t very popular among the citizens and is considered to be the so-called “bedroom district”, its history goes back deep in the past. The present-day territory was a very famous suburb of Moscow many centuries ago. Such villages as Graivoronovo, Sadki were situated there.
In the second half of the XVII century, after the glorious victory of the Russian squadron over the Turkish fleet in the naval Battle of Chesma, Sadki became an estate of Count Alexei Grigoryevich Orlov and got the name of Sadki-Chesmenskoe. The estate was built by a famous Russian architect V.I. Bazhenov in 1774. There were a lot of ponds and stables. Actually, there situated the first Russian hippodrome.
Unfortunately, the estate existed only till the middle of the XX century, in 1960 the palace-manor was destroyed. Only a small pond still reminds us about its luxurious past.
