There are four squares in Chita: Revolution Square, Decembrists Square, Theatrical Square and the main one Lenin Square. It is in the center of the town.
Many years ago there used to be Alexander-Nevskya Cathedral there. The cathedral was under construction for thirteen years (1912-1925). It was made of bricks. But there was something wrong in its construction. That’s why the cathedral was dismantled. Later the building of school № 4 was constructed of those cathedral bricks.
There is a monument to Lenin there. He was the leader of our country. You can see a very beautiful fountain. Lenin Square is one of the beautiful, important and popular places in town. City holidays, meetings, parades take place here. In winter we have a big Christmas tree and a skating rink.
The square looks really beautiful in spring and in summer when acacias are in blossom. It’s a popular place for people to have a rest in summer. They sit on benches, walk around, eat ice-cream, enjoy flowers, and take photos. Children like to feed pigeons. I often go for a walk there with my friends.
