In every city or town there are some places connected with the Great Patriotic War. In my home town Alexandrov there is a place called “Leningrad Cemetery” or “Malaya Piskaryovka”. It is a memorial zone where the remains of citizens of Leningrad are buried. They survived in the siege but died during the evacuation.
Every year on the 9th of May many veterans, relatives of the buried people and schoolchildren come here. They bring flowers and wreaths to honour the memory of the dead.
In 2004 with the help of Afghan war veterans a chapel was built near the common grave. The names of the citizens of Leningrad were restored and written on the memorial board.
It is very important to remember those who died during wars. I think all people should be patriots of their country. Every spring my classmates and I come to the place. We clean the Monument and the territory around it. Older people bring flowers and put candles in the chapel.
The buried people will live until we remember them!
