Do you know that the word “stanitsa” is wide-spread only in Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don regions? It is so, because stanitsa is a name of a place in the countryside and is located on the territories of former Cossack regions.
One of these stanitsas is my Motherland – Starominskaya. It is situated in the picturesque place in the North of Krasnodar region and was founded in 1794. There are a lot of great sights here: the monuments to V.I.Chapaev, to the Tank of the Great Patriotic War, the Memorial devoted to the 30th Anniversary of Victory over Nazism and St.Pokrov Cathedral. But,probably, the main sight of Starominskaya is a Folk Museum, it is 100 years old. There are 10 secondary schools in our place, besides, a school of Arts, a sport school, a Puppet House and a cinema house called “Pobeda”.
Some great and outstanding people were born and lived in Starominskaya, for example, a famous chemist E.D. Dontsov. He was at the head of the group of young scientists who discovered the 105th element of the Periodical System of Mendeleev – dubniy, as well as the 106th and the 114th elements.
Starominskaya is an agricultural place. Its products are well-known not only in Krasnodar region, but in a lot of cities and towns of Russia. Moreover, such Concern as “Syrodel” takes part in many exhibitions in Russia and in many other countries of the world. It wins prizes and different awards. I am proud of my Motherland, its beautiful nature and friendly people. And whenever I am, I always want to come back to Starominskaya.
