I live in Moscow but I was born in Astrakhan. It is a beautiful town with many sights. My favourite place there is Lenin Square. This place has seen many changes, but it still remains fascinating. In the centre of the square there is a monument to Lenin. In the corners there are seven fountains. The square is situated in the centre of the town near the Astrakhan Kremlin.
In the past after Alexander the second had visited this place, the square was called Alexandrovsky Boulevard. On the 30th of December, 1920 this place was renamed into Burovsky Garden. For many years there was a city stadium there. On the 26th of October, 1957 the stadium was pulled down and gave way to Lenin Square. In 2011 there was some reconstruction. Now it is the place where parades take place. On holidays there are concerts and exciting programs.
If you happen to be in Astrakhan, visit this beautiful and unforgettable place.
