Yuriev-Polsky is a small old town in the Vladimir region. My mother was born and lived there for a long time. Now my family lives in Alexandrov but we often visit this beautiful town.
Yuriev-Polsky was founded in 1152 by Prince Yuri Dolgoruky as an outpost of the Vladimir-Suzdal princedom. It is only 5 years younger than Moscow. The town is surrounded by wide fields which are called “Opolye”. So, it was named after its founder and its location.
The town is famous for its history, architectural monuments and kind-hearted people. It attracts with its unique identity, silence and the beauty of the scenery. Yuriev-Polsky is included in the Golden Ring of Russia. The most well-known places of interest are Intercession Church, Nikitskaya Church, The Memorial to the People Fallen during the War in 1941-1945, The Monument to Yuri Dolgoruky.
The people living in Yuriev-Polsky carefully keep up the Russian traditions of celebrating holidays and holding fairs. If you see these bright events with your own eyes, you will never forget them!
I love this town very much and invite everybody to visit it!
