Мои учащиеся-восьмиклассники приняли участие в конкурсе «Интерактивная карта России», и я решила не отставать от них. Пусть на Вашей карте появится ещё одно замечательное место.
Born in Leningrad I have always lived in this glorious city which is now called Saint-Petersburg. It is as the bossom friend witnessed my childhood, adolescence and ripe years as well. Among its highlights and less-known sights there is one place which is dearer to me than any other spot in Saint-Petersburg- the Mikhailovsky Garden. Compared with the luxury of the Summer Garden it was planned quite simply with typical for the country estates fruit trees, green houses and flowerbeds. Despite this contrast it was often called the Third Summer Garden where Swedish gardeners used to work. In1980-s I happened to get acquainted with one of their descendants while spending long hours with a pram in the Mikhailovsky Garden. It was he who told me a lot of exciting stories which I had never heard before. He showed me the pictures of 1750 when the garden was replanned in a regular style and of 1830 when it acquired some features typical for landscape parks. He also had the table “No dogs and soldiers” [saved by his great-grandfather] which was put on the gates when the garden was opened to the public in1900. He remembered the place where the monument to Alexander the first was buried during the blockade of Leningrad and where the wooden sculpture “The tree of Freedom” by A.P.Solovyov used to be. What is more, that ordinary gardener had an extraordinary hobby: he grew and created trees of whimsical forms. There was a lyre-like tree, a tree-candlestick, an oak and a rowan stretching their branches to each other- the Russianized gardener knew and loved our songs. Then my family moved to a new place away from the city center and when I visited the Mikhailovsky Garden again after the reconstruction of 2004 it had a new face which I liked very much but I did not meet my old gardener. New times call for new songs.
