I live in Vladivostok, one of the most important cities on the Russian Fareast. It is a very beautiful city with many nice historic buildings, museums, picturesque parks and places of interest. As Vladivostok is situated on the shore of the Japanese Sea, there are many places connected with the fleet and military events that took place here. One of them is a submarine S-56 which is on the Ship quay.
S-56 was built in 1936 on the plant in Leningrad and in 1941 it became a part of Pacific Fleet. It used to be a military submarine and took part in 8 battles and destroyed 4 ships, for this it was given Order of the Red Banner.
On the 9th of May 1975 it was set as a memorial submarine on the Ship quay near the building of Headquarters of Pacific Fleet on the shore of the quay Zolotoy Rog, where it is up to the present moment. Now it is a museum and many people visit it every day.
