Saint-Petersburg is a very attractive city. Every year many people visit it. They are always surprised by the beauty of the city. There are a lot of secrets and myths about our city.
One of them is about the Bronze Horseman. It’s a monument to Peter the Great, which is in Senat square. Its height is 10,4 meters. The Bronze Horseman was the first equestrian statue in Saint-Petersburg. The pedestal of the statue resembles a cliff and it is made of one huge, solid piece of red granite. The granite weights more than 1,600 tons and took nine months to transport it From Finland. There is a myth that the “Bronze Horseman” is made of copper. In fact it isn’t true. The monument is made of bronze. He got his name after a famous poem by Alexander Pushkin.
I`d like to tell you about one more myth. There is wonderful bridge over the Moika river. In ancient times people believed that if a man kissed his lover on that bridge, he would come back and need her again. This belief is still alive nowdays. People say that if a couple in love kisses on the bridge their life will be happy. And the longer the kiss the greater the happiness.
You can arrive in Saint-Petersburg, go to Potseuev bridge and check it … and then some time later you can make it sure if it is true or false
