Our district can tell a lot about the history of Moscow. If you make a few steps, you can get from one historical epoch to another. But the real travelling by a time machine is visiting the palace of Durasov. Here you not only get into the 19th century, but also become a guest of the secular ball.
Lublino is one of the unique historical area of Moscow. The first mention about it can be found in the sources of the 16 c. At that time Lublino was called Godunovo. The village was named after its founder G.Godunov. He built a mansion at the site of the destroyed village.
In the early 18 c. mansion was named Lublino for very strong love from its owners to it. There was a fairly large village which belonged to Prince V.Prozorovsky. In the 19 c. a rich landowner N.Durasov bought this manor. He is the most famous of its owners. He built the palace in the form of a cross in 1801. Because of peculiarity of the building the legend was born. It says that the palace was built in the form of the order of St. Anne. Gen. Durasov was very proud of the award and wanted to immortalize it in the building. However, there is no real evidence.
Lublino was the house for talented people. Feodor Dostoevsky described impressions about his life in the novel “Eternal husband” there. Russian artist Vasily Surikov wrote a well-known picture “Menshikov in Beryozovo” there too. And many other talented and remarkable people consider Lublino as the Motherland.
The village began to grow quickly after the construction of the railway at the end of 19 c , and in 1925 had been transformed to a city. In 1960 the city with the 86-thousand population was included in Moscow. Lublino is a place with a rich history and a small native land for many people. Each inhabitant has to know and keep its history for future generations.
