Baku is the capital of Azerbaijan. It is an old and historical city. It’s rich in amazing monuments, which have no other analogues in the world. Baku offers interesting sights for the lovers of architecture as well. Many tourists arrive here in search of some ancient flavor. The most magnificent attraction in Baku, which you will not want to miss as you come to this place, is a well-known Maiden Tower ("Gyz Galasy", meaning “Eye Tower”). The building’s age is still unknown. But in classical history it’s believed to have been built in the 12th century. Located not far away from the Caspian Sea, the Maiden Tower is used to be in the sea. The Tower is made of grey limestone and has a cylindrical shape. Inside it’s divided into 8 tiers. There’s also a circular stone staircase. And you can get (by foot ) the very top of the Tower and enjoy a spectacular view of the city. Also inside the tower there is a museum which has a rich collection of acient utensils, carpets, showing the life in the 18th-19th centuries.
There are a lot of legends. According to the most common one, The Shah fell in love with his own daughter and wanted to marry her. The girl was very frightened and asked him to build a tower in hope that he would change his mind.. When the tower was built, her father didn’t change his decision, the girl climbed the tower and jumped from it into the sea.
In conclusion, we’d like to say that Baku is a wonderful city and is worth visiting. Every day spent here promises to be an unforgettable adventure.
