Vladimir region, Orehovo, Zhukovsky’s homestead
Уварова Анастасия Андреевна ученица 9 «Г»
There are a lot of places in Russia which are worth seeing. For example: Orehovo, a small village to the north-west of Vladimir, is one of the most interesting places to visit.
Here you can see a homestead of the Russian engineer - Nicolay Zhukovsky. It is situated in a picturesque park of old trees. The homestead was not restored so you can feel the atmosphere of old ages there! The owner had made about 200 works in the mechanics sphere and maybe he can be “the father” of the Russian mechanics history. The building was bought in 1642 by Vera Zhukovsky who was a mother of an engineer. Now it is a great museum of Russian aviation. You can see the rooms where Zhukovsky worked and lived and also acquaint with the exposition of avia engineering and space exploration. Everybody can trace their history from the first to the last steps. One of the most fascinating part of the farmstead is a plane “MIG-17” which made lots of flights during the Second War! Nicolay made it by himself. Also you can see the flower arrangement in one of Zhukovsky’s rooms and the flower-symbol of their family- a thistle.
Tasty herb tea from a samovar waits for you!
