Toporov Maxim, Grade 8
Our general big Motherland is Russia. But everyone has the small Homeland, the corner which is dear to heart. I have lived in Kavalerovo since my birthday. I have been living in my small quiet town for fifteen years already. I have my favorite places in the town. In winter I like to play snowballs in the square near a monument to the residents who died during the Great Patriotic War. It’s so beautiful there: trees are dressed in snow-white fur coats, their heavy branches hang down to the earth. There is nothing more interesting than spring ice drift on our river.
In summer I like to go to the river. It doesn’t care that it is small and narrow. When in a hot summer day most people go swimming the river becomes deeper and water gets up to a breast.
There is a summer pool near our school. It’s very beautiful here: the water is green and dense. In autumn I like to go to the wood. The nature is full of silence and beauty of the new bright dress. I love my town for its nature and small sights, such, as old bear in the museum, or Dersu-Uzala rock, the wood landscape and mighty hills. Our rock is very old: it is two billion years old. I like to walk there. There is a very interesting fact concerning the rock: it’s always extremely warm under the rock.
