Urengoy is my native village
Берестюк Кирилл Александрович, учащийся 7б класса
I live in Urengoy.
It is my native village. It is situated in the Far North, in the Western Siberia, in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region. The distance between Urengoy and Moscow is three thousand kilometers. The population is about 10 thousand people. Urengoy is one of the largest gas and oil deposits in the world. The climate is severe here. Winters are cold and long. The lowest temperature is 60 degrees below zero. Summer is short and hot, sometimes it is rainy.
My favorite season is autumn when you a great diversity of colors in the forest: yellow, red, orange, purple, and brown. Besides there are many mushrooms and berries (such as cranberries and cowberries) in the forest. My family and I like to gather berries and mushrooms on weekends. The fauna is not numerous. You can find here a northern reindeer, an arctic fox, a tundra partridge, a polar owl, a squirrel, a mask rat. There is a great diversity of bird species: a hazel grouse, a black cock, a partridge. Among the trees growing in my place you can see a cedar, a larch, and fir trees.
Urengoy stands on the bank of the river Pur, it is a long and wide river. You can see ships, boats and fish men on it. There are 2 schools, 3 kindergartens, 3 libraries, a post-office and many modern shops, where you can buy everything you want. People in Urengoy have an opportunity to go in for sports at a large building of Culture Sport Complex with a new and modern swimming-pool. I do love Urengoy. I think it is the best place in the world.
