The Red Glade
МОУ «СОШ № 70» Гуменюк Михаил 9А класс
My name is Misha Gumenyuk. I live in Russia, in Saratov. I am a pupil of the 9th grade, school 70 of Saratov. Saratov is big and beautiful especially in spring. It is my native city and I love it, but I’d like to tell about a place I’ve visited and can not forget about since then. In the summer of 2006 I with my parents was in Caucasus. The travelling was unforgettable. We went to the Red Glade, one of the most surprising places in Russia. The mountain settlement is located in Adler area 75 km from the centre of Sochi. It settles down on height of 650 metres above sea level in mountains of the main Caucasian ridge which is more than 2000 metres high. Mountains divide the settlement from cold winds and the climate here soft and warm. The average temperature in July is 23 degrees above zero. In winter it snows sometimes and the temperature is about zero. The flora of the area is beautiful. Maples, chestnuts, oaks, lindens and azalea surround the settlement. Noble Caucasian deer, wolves, bears and other animals and birds live in this district. Trout and salmon live in pure mountain rivers and lakes.
The place has its history. Greeks found out this place in autumn of 1878 after the termination of the Caucasian war. They saw a huge glade in the mountains covered with red fern. Greeks based a settlement in this place and named it the Red Glade. Russians, Ukrainians, Georgians, Armenians have moved here at the end of the 19 century.
Today there are more than 5000 people live here. It is a modern settlement, pure and green. Winter Olympic Games of 2014 will be held in the Red Glade. Modern sports constructions are being built here now.
My travelling to the Red Glade was an unforgettable impression. I want to go to this place once again.
