Коробова Анна Андреевна
Morozovsk is an administrative centre of the Morozovsk District. It is a small provincial town located in the north-east of Rostov Region. It’s three or four hours ride from Rostov (265 km). Morozovsk stands on the river Bystraya. Earlier it was full-flowing and rapid but nowadays it is quiet and shallow.
The history of Morozovsk is long and rich. Many years ago it was a big Cossack stanitsa called Taubevskaya. On April 24th, 1917 it was transformed from Taubevskaya into Morozovskaya. On May 29th, 1941 it was given the status of a town called Morozovsk. This year the town is going to celebrate its 71st anniversary.
Morozovsk at present has a population of about 28 thousand people. In the town there is a number of large enterprises, such as a grain storage, a meat factory, a bread-baking complex, a farm-machinery plant “Morozovskselmash”, an oil production plant “Aston”. The town also has six schools, a vocational school, an art school, a music school, sports school, the Cadet Corps named after Suvorov. On the town area there is a railway station and a bus station.
In the centre of the town you can see the memorial complex devoting to those who defended the town and lost their lives during the Great Patriotic War. By tradition the citizens come here to honour the heroism of their townsmen. The town is especially beautiful in early spring. It’s a festival of life and beauty. You can enjoy spring air, green grass and first flowers. The citizens like to have picnics on this time.
I invite you to visit this small steppe town and get a lot of pleasant impressions!
