Moscow. Lebedyansky Pond
Ремешевский Никита Максимович
I live in Moscow. I would like to tell you about one of my favourite places. It is not far away from my house. I can go there on foot and it takes me only 15 minutes to get there. It is called Lebedyansky Pond. All my family likes to visit this place. It is situated in the east of Moscow, on the territory of Izmaylovsky Park, in Ivanovskoe District. I know some interesting facts from its history. The pond belongs to the basin of Serebryanka River and it is one of the biggest ponds of Izmaylovsky Park. This pond is known since the end of the 17th century. At the ancient times its name was Lebedevsky, because there were a lot of swans there. To be honest, I have never seen any swans here, but a lot of wild ducks live in the pond now. And I think some fish inhabits the pond too, because I often see many fishermen sitting on its banks.
There is a forest around the pond. The trees are so big and noble and give a cool shadow even in a hot day. If you go a little farther from the pond you can meet hedgehogs, squirrels, hares, moles and hear various birds’ voices. Lebedyansky Pond is very scenic, especially in autumn, when it is surrounded by painted yellow, orange and red trees.
Lebedyansky pond is a very popular place of rest for our district’s inhabitants. It is good at any season. You can always spend a good time there. It is so fun to sledge and ski at winter time and it is so pleasant to sunbathe and just have a walk here in summer. And I often go to this lovely place with my parents too. We get a lot of pleasure when we go there. We like to feed ducks and squirrels, to go for long walks and when we are tired we just sit on a bench and see on the pond’s water. I like this beautiful place and I would be glad if more people knew about it.
