Marina Alekseevna Pleshakova, teacher of English
I have been working at school for more than twenty years. I teach English and I am sure one of the important means of bringing up children is the theatre. I never miss the opportunity to take my students there, especially when there is a wonderful possibility to see the play in English. The International Festival “Minifest” gives us such an opportunity.
What can be better than an interesting, fascinating, discovery, meeting new people, exploring new countries? This is the dream of everybody who can afford it. Work and study, problems, the lack of money and sometimes just laziness prevent us from this. But your dream shouldn’t be put off. You shouldn’t resist new possibilities. More over you have got a powerful helper. It can take you away for thousands kilometers and can bring you back in a couple of hours. You can see how people live in other countries, what they sing about, what makes them happy and what they hope for… This magician is THEATRE. He rules the time and distances. The theatre has no language borders. Nothing can prevent an actor or a spectator from communication. As well as the real art has no frames: drama, a dance or a pantomime – the theatre has a lot of expressive means.
Twenty year ago the International Festival “Minifest” was organized by the Rostovites and the residents of the Rostov Region to get acquainted with the best and unusual performances of the foreign theatres. Rostov Theatre of Young Spectators hosts this festival. For twenty years all the experts and lovers of arts have enjoyed the mastery of theatres working in different genres, widening the borders of the world perception and harp on the positive tune.
More than 80 countries have already brought their best works here. The eleventh festival, which took place in the autumn of 2011 didn’t disappoint the spectators. They were invited into fairytales of the Good Old England and sagas of ancient Japan, to get acquainted with traditions of Poland and to learn what people of Austria make jokes at, to see how they dance in Murmansk and listen how people speak Russian in Israel. Are you ready? Take applause, good mood and off we go!
