My name is David. I’m a student of the third form. I live in Moscow and I like to go to the museums. There are a lot of museums in our beautiful city. They are very different and very interesting. You can get a lot of information and important facts there. I’d like to tell you about The Old English Court Museum. It is one of the most amazing museums in Moscow. It is situated near the Kremlin. The Kremlin is the heart of Moscow.
The Old English Court was a gift given by Ivan the Terrible to English traders during the 16th century. A group of English merchants arrived in Arkhangelsk in 1553 from the court of Edward IV under the command of Richard Chancellor. They were sent to find a new way to India. The Old English Court is made of white stone and it is one of the oldest buildings in Moscow. The main hall was used for doing business and signing trade contracts. It was named Kazennaya Palata. Thanks to its unique acoustics the Main Hall is used for concerts of early music played on Renaissance and Baroque instruments.
The museum contains two exhibitions entitled «Medieval Russia from the Eyes of a Foreigner» and «The History of Anglo-Russian Relations». Queen Elizabeth II visited this place in 1994. I advise you to visit The Old English Court Museum.
